    I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment at the poor service received today from Direct line, particularly from Direct line partner company Auxiliis.

    I recently moved to Direct line after many happy years with another insurance company following a colleagues recommendation. I am now wondering whether I did the right thing and I’m now seriously considering other options if this is not resolved quickly.

    I was involved in a non fault accident this morning, this being confirmed by the other drivers insurance company this afternoon. I have since spent the rest of the day on the phone back and forth to Direct line and Auxiliis. This evening I am still without a car. I can’t remember this level of service being portrayed in the glossy tv adverts.

    My concerns were raised earlier today when I spoke to a member of the Auxillis team. After going through a lengthy period of questioning and being asked personal details, some of which had previously been given to Direct line, I was once again asked to disclose details of the incident. Why are clients asked again to give these details already supplied to Direct line?

    I was then asked about the hire car, I expressed a preference for a similar large automatic vehicle because of my height and transport needs. The gentleman said he would have to refer to management because my vehicle was 6 years old. He also asked inappropriate and patronising questions such as was my request for a particular vehicle to do with maintaining my personal image? I reported this to Direct line and the call handler was equally taken back by his offensive question.
    When he returned to the phone after speaking to his manager, he told me that the replacement vehicle would be down graded because of my vehicles age. This is a prestigious vehicle I recently purchased at some considerable expense from Mercedes, not some banger that was clearly intimated.
    I certainly can’t remember this condition of insurance being made clear to me when I signed up with Direct line. In Fact when I contacted Direct line again, the person I spoke to was totally bemused with this information and had to speak to a colleague who was equally surprised. The call handler said that this needed to be raised with Direct Line as they hadn’t known about this condition. Another call handler, and indeed the body work company I subsequently spoke to, had also never heard of such regulation. Perhaps this is then a training issue Directline and partner companies need to be enlightened about, not to mention prospective clients.

    This, however, wasn’t my only concern. I strongly feel that Directline , as a company need to be more transparent with add on charges, such as £fuel excess that is charged to customers for no apparent reason. I asked a question to try and get some clarification; if a car comes with fuel and I top it back up to that level on return, why would I still have to pay a fuel levy, she didn’t seem to understand and tried to fudge some incoherent answer. I’m still none the wiser.

    After more script reading she then informed me that there would be a £ excess charge but that I could take an insurance premium out to limit a claim either at a charge of £ or £……..unbelievable. Is the an attempt to take more money out of clients or is it an attempt just to put them off getting a replacement vehicle. Perhaps I would be better getting a taxis and sending you the invoices via my solicitor?

    Just because they employ the services of this 3rd party company, it doesn’t absolve of the duties to care and look after the clients. I was not responsible in any way, shape or form for the accident, yet this company and partner company are making the whole process of resolving the issue both unpleasant, stressful and unnecessarily expensive.

    I am making a report in regards to policy.
    The name above driver was involved in a fatal accident last 2-3 years which was all her fault, and was unable to get an insurance cover for her vehicle from any insurance company in the uk since after the incident.
    I am making this report on suspicion of getting an insurance policy from direct line car insurance through deception and lies, she lied claiming she had many years of no claim bonus and outsmarted directline to get her car insured last year October.
    I am making this report for esteemed company to make verifications on how she was able to manoeuvre direct line to get a policy.
