  5. I had an awful experience of being forced to upgrade by being told my car wasn’t available. The car broke down , they charged my credit card before I returned to the office so I couldnt contend the cost.
    The complaints procedure was poor. They just copied the invoice.

  6. 4th time i’ve used a B&Q van….
    No fuel card in the van,
    No fuel in tank ( should be quarter full )
    Display panel was hanging by its loose wiring causing the information to crash thus the van would not start.
    I’m very concerned i’ll be charged for not refilling diesel tank to the required level even though i only had a 9 mile round trip.
    (I put in 6 litres to cover the small trip )

I had booked a car to pick up from Manchester Airport, however, my flights were changed to London Heathrow, I tried to change the rental location details but was instructed on the website that i had to cancel the original booking and re-book. I cancelled the original booking on the 5th April, it is now the 10th and i have not been refunded yet. I booked the car for 28 days so it is a lot of money that i need as i have just had to pay again to re-book before the prices went up closer to my travel date.

    Could they chase up my refund from the cancelled booking?

    “So far, not so good.On May 17 them sent me an email asking me to select the month I next wanted to rent a car from Hertz. I selected August and received a message saying “We will send you a special offer that you can use on a future rental with Hertz”. And that’s it, nothing else from them-“

    I am Dr. Xianghong Wu, I rent the car on Aug 14th to Aug 17th at Gatwick Airport. I booked the car via rentalcars.com in May 2017, and I paid rent fee as well as insurance fee in May 2017 via my credit card. Therefore, when I was asked about the insurance in Hertz desk on Aug. 14th, I clearly answered that I did not need additional insurance.
    I dropped car at Gatwick Hertz and rushed to pick up the flight on Aug. 17th, now I found in my credit card bill list that on Aug. 17th when I returned the car, I was charged 114.24 GBP additionally. I think this is ridiculous. (it does not make any sense to charge costumer additional CDW when we return the car!)
    I called the customer service yesterday, and I got a case reference number. In order to avoid any mis-communication, i will email to further clarify the case. so they can refund me as soon as possible
    I am frequent rent car user in all over the world, this is the first time to encounter this kind of case.
    Hopefully they can avoid this kind of case in the future. I believe Hertz is a premium brand and they should proud of the brand!!!

    1. Hertz are a hard company. I first had a problem with them 20 years ago. I was inadvertently put into them earlier this year. They went on to take 1414 euros.

  10. Trying to book a car hire with Hertz is next to impossible. No-one calls you back, you have to send at least 2 emails before you get a response and then if you keep asking it seems that they get fed up with them and just don’t respond at all. I have been trying to make a car hire booking for 5 weeks now after first establishing contact and still I haven’t managed it.

    But, during the connecting flight of KLM airline, the airline delayed my first flight and to the rental center HERTZ (at the airport in Toulouse) I only got to noon on March 22.
    At the rental point I went to a meeting, canceled the current reservation and made a new one:

    I have no questions for the deposit of March 21, but I cannot understand why so much money has been written off from my account?
    Please help me figure it out!
