  1. I am seriously unimpressed at the last- minute engineering works that were foisted on me on the bank holiday weekend. I appreciate that these need to be done sometimes but on this occasion I;
    a) had not only specifically made plans to avoid said works, even re- booking my train and incurring a fine by doing so and travelling a day early to avoid the Sunday works
    b_ received my confirmation email from Virgin two days before with NO mention of engineering works, but a through train specified ( London to Penrith)
    c) boarded said train and was panicked to find that the train terminated at Preston. I anxiously asked the on-board staff for advice about changing and was informed that there were NO trains between Preston and Penrith and I had to take a bus.

    Customers are given zero flexibility about travel plans ( unless they wish to pay a penalty) and they keep all our personal / travel details on file. Wouldn’t it be common decency to maybe employ them to inform us if a change must be made to our journey last -minute? An email to notify me would have made my journey far less stressful. I think this would be a bare minimum: I am very angry and disappointed that the works happened after I had specifically made travel plans to avoid them, also meaning I had to change my collection plans in Penrith and inconveniencing my whole family.

  2. Made a claim for refund weeks ago the journey from Middlesbrough to Edinburgh delayed for one hour and had to sit on the floor never heard from them

  3. I booked my tickets online added an open return it then asked if i wanted to reserve seats so i did a table with a socket paid for them that was that the day of travel picked tickets up looked at the outbound ones put others away got on train couldnt find a reservation so just sat down at a table anyway on our journey home got to the station to find the tickets wouldn’t work through the barrier to b then told we had day tickets and had to pay another 22.60 each to get home after paying 70 pound for tickets in the first place the ticket guy was amazed too, its an absolute joke i’ve never had this done to me before i’ve always booked my and my family’s train tickets online but i wont ever be doing it again

  4. To say that I am putting it mildly.As you are aware the trains from Edinburgh to Preston were cancelled on that 14th June 2018 due to high winds.
    I am very disappointed in Customer Services whom I contacted on various occasions on that day.
    The Call Center employees could not either understand me, or I them, as it would appear that English was not their first language.
    I was on one occasion informed that Waverer Station in Edinburgh did not exist and on another occasion that I needed to go by Eurostar from Kirkcaldy to Preston????
    I travel consistently in the U.K and took advice from a regular Trainline user to use your service instead of booking direct with either Transparent or Virgin.
    She has never had the need to contact Customer Services – but is now alarmed to have witnessed my problems which she now fears may happen with her in the future.

  5. Dear
    Last week my wife and I purchased off peak return ticket to travel from Oulton Broad South station to Liverpool Street. We are not frequent users of the line and we got, what we thought was a good deal. Two return tickets for a total cost of £.(BOOKING TRANSACTION) On presenting these tickets to ticket collectors named Craig ,on the outward journey ,he advised that these tickets were only issued to passengers who held railcards. Regretably we did not hold these. He was uncertain as to what we could do to correct the situation and phoned ahead to Ipswich ticket office for advice. He was told by a clerk named John , that the only thing we could do was to pay the full fare for the 2 Return tickets and reclaim the cost of the original tickets i.e. £.
    This we did and we wish to be advised as to how we can reclaim the cost of the original tickets purchased.We have retained a copy of the original purchase and we have receipts still for the tickets purchased on the train from Craig the ticket collector.
    Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

  6. I was on my way back from Broadstairs and arrived at St Pancras at around 7pm I wanted to check what was happening at Waterloo where I would catch my next train. Given all the problems with SW Railways I checked the Trainline app ‘live’ journey checked in case there were still problems following the over running engineering works. According to Trainline there were NO problems with my journey home.
    However once I emerged from Waterloo underground stn it became obvious that the delays were worse than ever! How can Trainline claim that they are on the ball with their live travel updates?
